Apron and Parapet Capping Terminations
A junction where an apron flashing meets a ridge can be weathered by two methods.
- By carrying the apron over the ridge and covering the joint with the ridging as shown in Parapet/Apron Ridge Cap.
- By making a separate saddle flashing as shown in Separate Saddle Flashing.
1. Install soaker/underflashing to the top of the apron flashing.
2. Construct the roof and install the fascia.
3. Install the roofing underlay and cladding.
4. Install a soaker/underflashing folded over the cladding to cover a minimum of 1 rib and to the top of the apron.
5. Install the barge flashing.
6. Install the apron flashing, rivet and seal to the barge flashing.
7. Install a Z-flashing with a kickout to cover the top of the apron flashing.
8. Install wall cladding on cavity battens, covering the top half of the Z-flashing.
9. Apply sealant between the cladding and the flashings.
Parapet cappings should have a separate cap at the apex or be joined as shown in Parapet Ridge.
